Western Australia

Aerial view of a Travel Guide Western Australia coastline

Western Australia has a way of making the world feel bigger. With vast coastlines, extraordinary wildlife and landscapes that stretch beyond the horizon. From Margaret River to Ningaloo and the Kimberley, it’s a place made for going further.

Best time to visit

  • April – October:  ideal for Ningaloo and the Kimberley, with warm days, lower humidity and generally dry conditions.

  • November – March:  Summer in Perth and the south-west brings long, warm days for beaches, vineyards and coastal road trips.

  • June – August:  Whale shark season at Ningaloo, with manta rays and other marine life adding to the experience throughout the year.

What to expect

Western Australia isn't one journey. Perth and the south-west, Ningaloo and the Coral Coast, and Broome and the Kimberley each offer something completely different. One trip might be all vineyards, beaches and leisurely road trips; another, marine wildlife, ancient landscapes and remote wilderness far from the everyday. Knowing where to focus, how long to spend there and what works naturally together makes all the difference.
